Congratulations to Bob Hudson winner of the Silver medal in Archery, Mens Individual Compound - Open, at the ParaPanAmerican Games in Guadalajara, Mexico in November 2011. Bob and his teammate, Kevin Evans took the top two places on the podium with Kevin taking the Gold. See new photos below.
Everyone at Vortex wishes them well as they train towards next year's Paralympic Games in London next summer!
My name is Bob Hudson. Archery is the focus of my daily physical activity as I am one step closer to reaching my goal of going to the Paralympics.
This past year has been very challenging for me as I am just recovering from one year of being ill. I could not compete competively in the 2010 archery season which was very disappointing. However, after a full recovery, I am now on the rebound and ready to take on the 2011 season.
I am attending the World Championships in Turin, Italy on July 9th throughout the 17th to qualify for the Paralympics in 2012. This event itself is a memorable experience one will never forget. I will have more events to attend in the near future. Nationals are being held here in Delisle, Saskatchewan this year Aug. 9th – 14th. This is also a Paralympic event in Stoke Mandeville, England in September followed by the Pan Am American Games in Mexico in November. It is all these events which will enable me to get one step closer to qualifying for the Paralympics.
I have shot a personal best average this year of the score of 1351 this past April in B.C. and am presently ranked 3rd in Canada. I have learned the value of perservence and determination and what it takes to overcome obstacles such as medical issues as a paraplegic. It is overcoming these obstacles that makes me stronger as a person.
I would like to thank VORTEX Canada for their support in sponsoring me with their equipment and products. Their optic equipment has greatly enhanced my shooting accuracy. Without the support of Vortex, I would not be the archer I am today.
