My name is Bob Hudson. Archery has been the main focus of 2012.
This year has been a very busy, competitive year with the qualification for the Paralympics. As a result of my commitment, determination and hard work this past season, I have qualified and will be competing in the Paralympics 2012 in London, England this August through September.
I started this season with indoor events taking me as far as Las Vegas. I started shooting outdoor events in B.C. this March and April as it was too cold in Saskatchewan. I had shot my personal best of a 720 round in B.C. this year which gave me a good lead in points for the ranking criteria.
It was May 31st, 2012 where the deadline for submissions of scores was to determine the top two archers who would attend the Paralympics. On Jun. 4th, I was notified that I would be nominated to attend the Paralympics as the second archer (only 14 points behind the first archer) to be attending the Paralympics. It was at this point the dream became a reality!
This will be a very busy summer as I am attending two event championships in Czech Republic from July 3rd until the 15th. It will be there I will also be attending a training camp for the Paralympics. On August 6th, I will travel to Victoria, B.C. where I will compete at Nationals. I return on the 13th of August and will head for Toronto on the 19th which will be the take-off point for going to London. The opening ceremonies are on August 29th with the event of archery starting on the 30th. My goal – is the GOLD!
